This hummingbird was a regular at my deck last summer.

Each sighting was met with renewed faith and childlike excitement to see such beauty in my own back yard.

My workshops are both educational and experiential in nature.

They are not support groups .

They are specific topics to help you learn to live with the challenges of loss in life and death;

Six Essentials to Pack for The Caregiver's Journey

Saturday, April 16, 2016                9:30 am -1:30 pm

 Program Fee  $25, plus $10 fee, payable to presenter day of program,

for starter bag of “six essentials” used in the program.

Caregiving for a loved one with a chronic or progressive illness is not like a week long battle with the flu.  This is a journey and can be a long one. The caregiver's role is also progressive, requiring stamina to meet the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual challenges that often lie ahead.  For those beginning the journey, it can be vital to consider ahead of time how to prepare—what can be helpful to “pack” for the road ahead.  In this experiential workshop, Debbie explores six essentials to consider having for your journey, based on her extensive work with caregivers and her own personal experience. Please dress casually; participants may spend some time outside, weather permitting. The program includes lunch.

"I'm an Adult Orphan": Exploring Grief & Identity After the Mid-life Loss of Parents

Saturday, May 14, 2016  9:30 am-3:30 pm

Are you in that middle aged group, ages 40’s through 70’s, who have experienced the death of your last living parent? Was your last living parent in their 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, or even 100+ ?  And, importantly, did you and your parents become best friends in adulthood?  We will explore the grief following that special relationship between the middle aged adult child and deceased elder parents—and consider the shift of who you’ve become. Experience and explore the range of emotions in a safe environment, while sharing and remembering the love. Weather permitting, we will be outdoors during a portion of this workshop to gather experiential materials. Please dress casually and accordingly for being outdoors.  Program includes lunch.
